The NZ Television Digital switchover

Your old-school, analogue television signals are being ditched for the new-fangled digital-only transmission for free-to-air channels and it’s all happening now, in a region by region roll out.
So how do you avoid missing an episode of Shortland Street? Let’s break it down:

Why switch to digital?
Digital telly gives you better pictures, clearer sound, more channels and fancy doodackies like electronic programme guides. Plus, most overseas countries are making the switch and the outdated analogue network is getting pricey to run.


What do I need to do?
If you want the benefits of digital television without subscribing to a pay television service and forking out a monthly fee, you’ll need to make a one-time investment in a digital receiver or set top box.
